To enable waiting rooms for your Google Meet calls and meetings, you can follow these steps:
- Start or schedule a Google Meet session.
- Once in the meeting, locate the host controls by clicking on the shield icon in the bottom-right corner of the screen.
- In the host controls panel, scroll down to find the "Quick access" option.
- Turn off the "Quick access" setting. When this is disabled, it effectively creates a waiting room for your meeting.
By turning off Quick access:
- Participants who aren't explicitly invited will need to ask to join the meeting.
- You'll have control over who enters the meeting and when.
- Participants will be placed in a virtual waiting area until you admit them.
It's important to note that:
- If you've invited participants via Google Calendar or Classroom, they will still be able to join directly.
